How I work This was a big project. It was a lot of different doctors who were researching a lot of different things. I try and develop ideas that deliver a message and that can be collaborative. This is a good example of ideas getting developed, and then after the design is signed off on, many people make decisions that possibly should have been left to the designer.
The images below were from the original site. That logo was plastered all over that section of the hospital and I was excited to replace it.

Concept 1. Often times I have found designing websites for research labs requires some guesswork. Yes we ask questions, sometimes we get answers. So with this idea I found a picture of a child and used it to represent a new direction. I also made up the sections knowing that they might survive and might get changed.I wanted the site to be very dramatic.

Concept 2. This idea is about the research. It's attempting to be kind of science fictiony and play up the many different areas that the group does research in.

Concept 3. The concept here is tell the story about the people who have been treated with the research. I thought this was a big idea. Plus I had developed the animated genomic helix and felt the pieces of the design tied together nicely.
